Frequently Asked Questions

How does a boiling water unit work?

Boiling water units connect to your mains water supply and keep a reservoir of water at boiling temperature. When you press the tap, you get instant boiling water — no waiting for a kettle. Our LA Series is the exception: it delivers water at 65°C instead of boiling, designed for environments where scalding is a safety concern.

What’s the difference between Kwikboil and Supatap?

Kwikboil units are wall-mounted. They mount on the wall above a sink and you fill your cup directly from the unit. Available in 3L to 25L, filtered or unfiltered, in white or stainless steel. Best for offices, site offices, staff rooms, and commercial kitchens. From $964.

Supatap systems are underbench. The unit sits under the bench, and a premium tap on the benchtop delivers filtered boiling, chilled, and/or ambient water. Motion sensor power saving as standard. Best for modern offices, reception areas, boardrooms, medical facilities, and home kitchens. From $3,152.

What’s the difference between Supatap BF, BC, and BCF?

BF = Boiling + Ambient (filtered cold water at tap temperature). The entry-level Supatap. From $3,152.

BC = Boiling + Chilled (refrigerated cold water). The most popular option — replaces a kettle and a water cooler in one unit. From $3,910.

BCF = Boiling + Chilled + Ambient (all three water types from one tap). The full package. From $4,349.

Most offices choose the BC Series. If you don’t need refrigerated chilled water, the BF saves money.

What’s the difference between boiling water (100°C) and the 65°C LA Series?

The standard Kwikboil SA and SC series deliver water at boiling temperature (~100°C). The LA Series delivers water at 65°C — hot enough for teas and food preparation, but with significantly lower scalding risk. The LA Series is designed for aged care, childcare, correctional facilities, and any environment where boiling water is a safety concern.

How much power does it use?

Kwikboil (wall-mounted): Runs on a single 10A GPO (standard power point), 2.4kW. No special wiring needed.

Supatap BF (boiling + ambient): Runs on a single 10A GPO, 2.4kW.

Supatap BC and BCF (boiling + chilled): Requires a double GPO — one for the boiler (10A, 2.4kW) and one for the chiller (0.75A). Your electrician may need to add a second power point under the bench if one isn’t already there.

All Supatap models include motion sensor technology that reduces power consumption when nobody is nearby.

Do I need a plumber to install?

Yes. All Kwikboil and Supatap units should be installed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and all relevant Australian plumbing and electrical regulations. Installation is straightforward for any qualified tradesperson — a Kwikboil wall-mount typically takes under an hour. Supatap underbench systems take slightly longer due to the chiller connection and benchtop tap fitting.

What water pressure do I need?

All Kwikboil and Supatap units operate on 100–1000 kPa water pressure. Most Australian mains supplies fall within this range. If you’re on tank water or low-pressure supply, check your pressure before ordering — a plumber can test this for you.

How often do filters need replacing?

For filtered units (Kwikboil F models and all Supatap units), filters should be replaced every 6–12 months depending on usage and water quality. Replacement filter cartridges are available in our accessories section.

What warranty do I get?

Every Kwikboil and Supatap comes with a 2-year parts warranty, with labour included in the first year. If something needs servicing, you call us and we put you straight through to the Supakwik factory team. Full details on our Returns & Warranty page.

How does Supakwik compare to Zip and Billi?

All three are Australian-made. The differences are in build details, pricing, and support.

Wall-mounted (Kwikboil vs Zip Econoboil): Similar price, but the Kwikboil has a copper tank (vs stainless), a 2.4kW element (vs 1.5kW), and built-in dry-fire protection.

Underbench (Supatap BC vs Billi Quadra / Zip HydroTap): The Supatap BC starts at $3,910 — comparable Billi Quadra models start around $5,090, and the Zip HydroTap G5 around $5,720. That’s $1,000 to $1,800+ less for a like-for-like underbench system.

When you call us for service, we connect you straight to the Supakwik factory — the people who built your unit. See the full comparison.

Can I install a Supatap in a home kitchen?

Yes. The Supatap range works in both commercial and residential kitchens. You’ll need space under the bench for the unit, a water connection, and the right power supply (single GPO for BF, double GPO for BC/BCF). A licensed plumber can handle the installation.

Do you ship Australia-wide?

Yes — we ship to all states and territories across Australia. See our Shipping & Delivery page for timeframes and costs.

Can I get a quote for multiple units?

Absolutely. If you’re fitting out an office, a building, or multiple sites, contact us with the details and we’ll put together a quote. We’re happy to help with sizing and product selection for larger projects.

Do you offer trade pricing?

We work with plumbers, builders, and commercial fit-out companies. Get in touch to discuss trade pricing for volume or ongoing supply.

Can I see a unit in person before buying?
